Toshiba thrive should work.

Pretty much any Windows 8 based tablet has an SD slot.

Lenovo IdeaTab S6000 has MicroSD card slot if that works for you. I recently purchased one.
For regular SD slots, I recall Acer tablets have them but tin't be sure.

Trying to go on it an Android device.

Trying to go along it an Android device.
This is what I was hoping to hear.
If yous are concerned with Android; I thought to share some wise words that I've experienced.
Instead of worrying so much about the device since the person and device volition always modify; think of irresolute the memory card.
There is a company called Eye-Fi that basically allows your SD card to send out a Wifi signal.
Once you download the necessary application into the device; then you can view the images without disconnecting the SD from the camera (hence avoiding the possibility of loosing the card)
They have a software for Windows, App Shop, Android Play, Kindle Fire

In one case you lot go Heart-Fi; the residue will go Bye Good day :)

Trying to continue it an Android device.
I would recall that any Android device with a USB port would be able to apply an SD adapter.

Trying to keep it an Android device.
I would think that any Android device with a USB port would be able to apply an SD adapter.
That's true, just the Thrive does have a congenital in SD reader. (cant remember if Toshiba discontinued the Thrive or non though...)

Here is the comparison link for the Eye-Fi cards. (will help for y'all to see all the benefits from one version to other)

I know most the Middle-Fi cards, but this application would be too expensive for end user.
I know Android devices can take SD cards, just, I want to know if they can view the pictures in a semi like shooting fish in a barrel manner.

I know about the Middle-Fi cards, merely this application would be too expensive for end user.
I know Android devices tin can take SD cards, but, I want to know if they tin view the pictures in a semi easy style.
of course they tin can view pictures easily.
Alot of the Android devices already have built in cameras; so they work the same way an Iphone/Ipod/Ipad would
1 program/App to accept the picture; and the other to review the pictures.
The Eye-Fi cards you can find used; however I'g certain yous can get a book discount if you programme to purchase a big quantity

I don't recall I am making myself clear.
User has say 10 SD cards worth of pictures. Device the SD cards are in takes pictures but you tin't view them. It would be nice for end user to accept something to "read" the cards and meet the photos in a tablet sized manner. If you pop in an SD menu to a tablet, it doesn't pop upwards saying "New pictures" like Windows would do. That user would then accept to have an app or something to browse to the SD card and meet photos in an easy manner. The latter I am not concerned most.
I just want a tablet that I can switch in multiple SD cards to view the photos. What I'm concerned about is Android saying "Oooooh, new storage bachelor to me" and wiping everything out.

Now information technology'southward crystal clear
i would suggest you lot tell the guy to exam out the tablet himself. The Samsung are the best in android tablets.
To to avoid your issue virtually formatting the carte du jour. With SD cards at that place is a little lever at the top of the card that locks it from whatever writing rights. Just tell them tolock information technology to avoid any hazard of deleting the data.

I'm trying to find a tablet that would exercise this, instead of recommending a tablet that might not and he then just wasted his coin.

I'll bring my thrive to work monday and test it w a SD card of pictures I take lying effectually.

I'm trying to find a tablet that would exercise this, instead of recommending a tablet that might not and he then only wasted his money.
Then I'yard really surprised to see after investigating Asus, Toshiba, Sony, Samsung, Lenovo, and Amazon.
For all of these tablets in the 10.1 category or smaller; all of them if they offering an SD slot; information technology's e'er a MicroSD connection.
Given this dilemma the merely mode to do this is via a Wireless source.
In doing some research I found this wireless carte du jour reader. Basically y'all popular in the SD card and then you'll be able to view them on an IOS or Android device.
It's called the Pqi Air Drive
They sell for about 50$ approx.

I hope you agree this is the best solution.
FYI, simply make sure the tablet you lot are going to buy has the following OS
Android 2.1 or afterwards are recommended ( Basically zilch too One-time since version 4 is pretty much a standard at present)

Whatsoever tablet with a USB slot, and then you tin can buy a $xx 20:1 menu reader that will read 20 different types?
thumb_up thumb_down
Since this hasn't been brought up, what type of files(images) is he reading? Does the camera format the card in a specific manner that is different?
Those are the two concerns. The wifi PQI Air Drive sounds like the best solution. No cables needed and it may be quicker reading the carte du jour than an internal reader. You don't have to look for a tablet with USB and as long every bit you have the SD adapters you can apply Any size SD bill of fare from standard to micro to mini.
As far every bit the files, if the user is reading RAW files grade a camera you will need to notice a specific app for that possible. I haven't tried RAW format on my phone or tablet. If they are available in JPEG or other standard formats the user can simply plug the card in and employ the gallery and it volition option upwardly the new carte du jour. Which might be a question to ask PQI almost their device. Y'all might simply be able to see the PQI device and data using their software or their software may make information technology available as if it were a local device and just work with anything simply that is a PQI question.

I but spent the day looking for a tablet that takes a standard sized SD carte du jour. Pretty certain they all utilise Micro cards at present. I edit my photos in the field and and the Micro cards tin can get lost easily when you're standing in the eye of a field or waist deep in the brush. Delight allow me know if you find an Android based one.
